zippered

It's been far too hot to quilt so I've been making some smaller projects from the scrap bin. I've wanted to make these zippered pouches for ages. So much fun.

Even treated myself to some labels. There are more of these cute pouches on the horizon.

Meanwhile in Sydney where heatwave conditions have seen temps in the mid 40s (degC that is) . . .

purple

I've been watching the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for a while now and you know what?  I fancy giving it a go this year.

Frankly, I'll never get through the stash if I don't make a start.

It's hosted by So Scrappy and she has been running it for a few years now. Deb A over at VTQuilter has definitely been an inspiration.  She has made some fabulous quilts over the years. I found her blog via canuckquilter. Of course, I'm not in their league - they are both amazing quilters.

Back to the RSC Challenge for 2017. . .

Each month a colour is announced and you make one or several blocks in that colour. One block a month will do me and I'm using a pattern called Handy Andy designed by Janelle Noack which was published in Homespun (June 2013).

blinked

Where did December go? Christmas? Yikes - Happy New Year!

After a less than average quilty output in 2016, I thought I had better get my act together this year.

You can see my UFOs in my new blog header and they are there to remind me every time I open my blog that they need attention.

I saw a wavy machine quilting pattern on a quilt that I'd like to use on the Raindrops Baby Quilt. Thought it best to try it out first and hey, we needed a new table mat for our family room table.

Not bad. I think it will do the trick.

When I was searching the inter-webs for some zippered pouch patterns I discovered that 2016 was the year to Quilt The Stash.  I soooo need to use the fabric I already have. I am not allowed anywhere near a quilt shop this year.

Oh well, better late than never!
