ANZAC Day

25 April is a day of commemoration for Australians. Around the country and overseas we pause to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our defence personnel in the many conflicts in which our country has participated.

There are many stories of note and I recommend to you this one - The Other Anzacs by Peter Rees. It is a moving account of the extraordinary young nurses from Australia and New Zealand who followed our troops to the Great War.

They were renowned for their courage and compassion under appalling conditions experiencing first hand the horrors of Gallipoli and the Western Front.

April Finishes for WISP

After some technical difficulties it has been nice to finish some outstanding projects. Here are my April entries - a bag and a wallhanging.

Tracey over at Itching 2 B Stitching is hosting a fatquarter giveaway and it's easy to enter. Click on the image below to find out how.

Oops!

I broke it!

I was wondering why my walking foot wasn't sewing properly. It seems that a very small screw is missing - a rather important one actually.

Faithful old thing. Quilted many a project.

There will be a brief interlude until I arrange a replacement.

Talk amongst yourselves.

A Different Approach

Here's what I have been working on - a table mat, cushion, wallhanging and bag. Now I find myself with six unfinished projects (there are two quilts waiting to be quilted as well).

I'm not sure about this method - I usually like to finish a project before I start the next.

I also paid a visit to Country Pickin's at the Corner - a wonderful little shop packed to the rafters with fabric, kits, patterns, trinkets and threads. I found the remaining fabrics to make my next quilt. Of course, I would love to have left with loads more fabric but the budget just isn't stretching that far.

Sigh.

Here's the quilt I'll be making.

I just had to share with you these delightful bunny egg cosies designed by Julie Williams at Little Cotton Rabbits.

You can buy the pattern from her online store. She also has a pattern for the cutest little knitted cupcakes.

Some folks are just too clever for words!

Fat Quarter Swap received

I received my Spring Fat Quarter swap goodies from Shelly over at Shell's Specialty of the Day and they are amazing.

Shelly has made a fabulous purse and it has my initials embroidered on it! It was filled with bright zingy fat quarters, sweets, Spring themed earrings and some amazing Mardi Gras beads. I'm going to need some instructions about how to wear those correctly. The sentiments in her card were quite touching.

Thank you so much Shelly for this wonderful collection of pressies. I had the best fun swapping with you.

Quilted Greetings

I wanted to share with you a delightful card I received today from a dear friend and fellow quilter.

Such a bright and cheerful scene - a little bit of Spring for all of you who have endured a long cold winter and for us here in Sydney on a dreary, wet and windy day.

Thank you Kelli!
