the haphazard gardener

i know this plant as arrowhead and it started life as an indoor plant.

at death's door, almost killed by kindness, it was relegated to a quiet spot at the feet of my sasanqua camellia hedge where it was promptly forgotten and utterly neglected.

it has now taken over a large area, is lush and healthy

perhaps it's an approach that should be applied to the rest of the garden!

this is my entry for

  3. I've always said that plants should be treated with benevolent neglect! It's beautiful.

Love the bright life during our deep winter months here.

  5. That's gorgeous! I've always known it as Arrowhead, too, but I believe if you look close, you will find it is a member of the philodendron family. I would guess you don't get any freezing weather?

  6. Beautiful! I have one in a pot in my sunroom that's almost six years old! It got so tall that I cut it, rooted the cuttings, and re-potted it, and now it's getting big again! It couldn't take the heat nor the cold outside in Texas! ---"Love"

  7. Sydney is a warm temperate zone for gardening. We can have very hot dry days in summer 35-45 degC and winters are usually mild and sunny - days average 15-18 degC. Occasional frosts, not every year. Never snows. No distinct seasons like in parts of the US. We've actually had one of the coldest, wettest summers on record. ann :-)

  10. When indoor plants get back to nature they thrive, as do bonsai. Nice lot of buds on the Camellia.
