That Moment of Terror


I don't know about you but my heart skips a beat when I make the first cut into the fabric for a new project.

This is the first block in this quilt - Licorice & Latte from American Patchwork & Quilting's Quilt Sampler Spring/Summer 2008.



The quilt is for my son - so another without florals. Boy am I busting out after this!

I took inspiration for the colour scheme from this bowl.



I may have to rename the quilt Iced Mocha Latte.

I'm also planning to make this quilt for a friend whose baby is due in December. Not really quilt weather in Australia but no matter.

    I love the colors! I must tell you though cutting into fabric is one of my favorite things, I get so excited for a new project and to see things come together that my heart goes pitter patter with joy!

    Oh Ann...I am in love with your Iced Mocha Latte block...it is absolutely beautiful, the colours are so complementary!!! I'm sure the Quilt for your Friend's baby will get plenty of use, so lovely it will be for the cold winters' days next year...Dzintra♥x

    I love love love, pale blue and brown together, gorgeous. I did a whole range of designs at college on these two colours :) Babies love quilts no matter the weather and if they can't be under them they can roll around on them :)

    Oh I know what you mean about that first cut! I don't think you need worry, it's going to be a beautiful quilt anjd the colours are gorgeous.

    The baby quilt is cute too, and yay, no pink! (I've been overdosed with pink!!)

    I hate making that first cut too! I have so many fabrics which I love, but haven't used because I am scared to cut them and spoil them.

    I really like the colour scheme you are using - it's a really pleasing mix.
