afternoon

What is about hand sewing that is so satisfying?

Doesn't seem to matter whether it's hand-piecing a block, catching a binding, some embroidery or a stitchery project.

I had a peaceful afternoon working on these diamonds and stars.

That cute little pincushion was a gift from Nora who used to blog on APQ back in the day and drops by now and then to see what we are sewing. Thanks Nora!

Hope there is time in your weekend for a little sewing.

  1. Hand stitching is wonderful isn't it...it doesn't matter where you are, you can whip out whatever it is that you are working on and enjoy the moment. That is a sweet li'l pin cushion you have there.

  2. Hand stitching is so peaceful. English Paper piecing is my favorite type of quilting--I think that's because it's done by hand and the precision feeds my need for perfection. I'm so glad you are finding time to sew! Enjoy it while you can.

  3. It seems like it's a well kept secret, because although there are millions of us who love to sew, there are lots more who don't even know how to sew on a button! I recently read an article in an old quilting magazine about hand piecing and it makes me want to do some of that. Maybe I'll get back to my EPP soon, but right now it's mostly by machine for me.

  4. That little pin cushion is darling and I love the pretty boxes for keeping things together. I enjoy stitching by hand, especially in the evening while the TV is on. It drives me crazy to have to just sit without something to keep my hands busy! Have fun with your projects!

  6. Hand piecing...bleh...at least the English paper kind. Of course, that's what I said about applique years ago and look at me now! But yours is beautiful and maybe could inspire me to try again...
