speedy

I was trying to remember if I'd ever made a quilt top in a day. Not sure that I have but it is rather a nice feeling. A sense of achievement.

You didn't think I was going to show off the quilt before it's all finished now, did you?

The more industrious among you would have completed the whole quilt in a day but I can never seem to get my act together.

So, next weekend I will quilt this baby and sometime during the week, sew on the binding and a hanging sleeve. Well, that's the plan anyway.

Then. I'll let you see the finished quilt. Can you wait that long?

hoot

I'm using some of the fabric from Adorn It's Nested range to make a baby quilt. There's a bright, shiny new grand-baby on the way for my boss and his wife.

Yeah, okay, any excuse to buy cute fabric.

These came from Fabric Pixie in Goonellabah, NSW  - an 8 hour drive north from here (just over 700km or 454miles).

Ah, no - I didn't drive there. The postman took care of things. Thanks Postie!

There are two colour-ways - Coral for girls and Charcoal for boys.

I do like those owls - *wink*

oops

Remember those little scraps from  my last post? Look what happened! Tilt your head a little as the block is supposed to be on point.

See - that worked!

I was thinking *table mat* or *wall-hanging* but then I saw this block  - Solomon's Temple - and well, you know how these things go.

Except for one small hiccup.

You see this is the second block I made. The first one didn't go quite as well.

Oh dear, I obviously wasn't focussed on the task or the pattern for that matter. Realised far too late that I hadn't put it together properly.

I have passed the point of no return and won't be unpicking this block. I can live with it. I'm not aiming for perfection here.

remainders

If little scraps of fabric are called crumbs and little bits of thread are called orts, then I wonder if little half  square triangles leftover from making this quilt have a name?

Either way I plan to use these little treats to make something.
