You're Invited to a Soiree

I did want any patchworker would do when they can't decide what project to make from *the list*.

I started a completely different one altogether.

Oh well, at least I'm making something and that's a good thing, right?

This is my first foray into Modern Quilting and I'm rather enjoying it. I'm using the leftovers from a honey bun of Soire'e by Lila Tueller for Moda Fabrics.

I made a swap bag from this last year (designed by rachel from p.s.i quilt - she's a quilting rockstar these days) and made a wonderful bloggy friend in Portugal - Ana Maria.

I can see why this white/funky combination is so appealing. It's a fresh, clean look.

In the meantime, I'm changing my mind daily about what to do with my Simple Abundance layer cake. Sigh.

Rachel is using the range to make her pinwheel sampler and Roslyn from bloom made a quilt for Moda Bakeshop with it. Roslyn's blog is simply stunning. She takes such beautiful photographs, has a rose garden to be envious of and makes lovely projects - her stitcheries are perfect!

There is plenty of inspiration and ideas out there. I'm sure I'll find something I just *have* to make.

Enjoy your weekend!

Ann

  1. I work on the basis that my list is just a point to deviate from - I love what you've created with your Soiree - stunning! I am finding myself more and more drawn to the "modern" look - it IS very fresh and clean.
I have this huge big list of UFO's but I, too, have been working on not 1 but 3 quilts that were not on it. I'm telling myself they're donation quilts and letting me practise my FMQ, so they don't really count! That's my story, and I'm sticking too it...

  3. So pretty! I'm such a brown person, but I've really enjoyed working with some of the oontemporary fabrics lately. And I just happen to have a Soire'e jelly roll!

  4. Wow! That is quite a change for you, but I love it! You know me; I love pinks, greens, flowers, and white! It will make a wonderful summer quilt. Ummmmm---but aren't you getting ready to go into winter? Oh well, if you keep starting more new projects, it will be next summer before you finish it anyway! *wink*
    HAPPY EASTER! ---"Love"

  16. Lists are made to be added to aren't they? See, you add this quit to the list then you get to cross it off as done :). Lovely quilt. I've never bought the more modern prints because I haven't known quite what I would do with them.

  28. Your Soiree quilt is beautiful! I love that fabric and it DOES look so good with white. I made a quilt out of a jelly roll and a charm pack last Spring. You can see it here (if you want to visit): http://plainjane21.blogspot.com/2009/05/ta-da.html

I later made a table runner out of the left over bits... then a candle sleeve. I wonder what else I can do with the scraps...?
