I ran out of thread. Ordered some online and the postage was almost the same price as the thread. To be fair, if I’d gone to the store I probably would have bought a coffee, a treat and a magazine which would be about the same amount.
It took me a while to work out a design to quilt in the red hexagons on this quilt but in the end I decided to quilt a simple spiral. Where the star points meet are rather bulky and I’m using a wool/poly batting which has a higher loft than the cotton or the bamboo/cotton in more recent quilts.
At least some progress is being made. Hopefully, before I finish the spirals, I will have an idea of how to quilt all the sashings.
I’ve got time. We are in lockdown until 25 October. Sigh.
I know what you mean - if you order on line you pay high postage but I have no quilt shop near me at all - all are about a 90 minute drive at minimum so if I go to the shop to see what they have I know I will pay for gas, something to eat and snacks - it is cheaper to order on line!! Where are you located that you are in lock down now - I believe Australia? or New Zealand? that will be a pretty star quilt when done.
ReplyDeleteThe end of October is a LONG time to be on lockdown. Good thing you have lots of fabric, even if you occasionally have to order something and pay postage! Otherwise boredom might kick in! Blessed Be.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very long time! Yikes. I can't even imagine.... can you at least go get groceries? Lets hope all the fabric and quilts are able to keep you busy.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a long stretch, but I think wiser than our 2 weeks that lasted a year, with continued extensions. It looks like you are making the best of it and will have earned a few new projects when you're allowed to get out again. From what I can see, the quilting looks great and I'm excited for a final reveal whenever you get there. (No rushing from me, just cheering you on!)
ReplyDeleteYour quilting you are doing is lovely. Gosh, postage is expensive. Thinking of you as you are in lockdown. The end of October is such a long wait; take care.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks great on that beautiful quilt! Seems you are in a bad fix with such a long lock down. However, I've been on a sort of lock down for over a year now because my legs just won't keep me vertical! Got my son to take me to Hobby Lobby twice in that time, each after doctor's visits. I do have lots of friends who come by often. At least I'm not on the kind of lock down you are! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see this one edging closer to a finish! It's a beautiful quilt. I'm sure that as you quilt the quilt will start talking about what else it needs. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics and the quilt is gorgeous! I always buy thread on line and try to get several at a time so the shipping charge doesn't seem too bad. In fact I just did that, but they didn't have any black, so I had to buy some black thread at my local quilt shop (LQS). I almost hate to tell you this, but I live about one mile from the LQS! So I am definitely spoiled!
