Ta-da! Here is it is - at long last.
(did I milk this one for all it's worth)
Used some of the leftover fabrics for the backing.
Seemed a shame not to use them.
Seriously, how cute are those owls?!
I love the effect of the quilting on this one.
Machine quilted on a Janome QC6260 using Stitch No. 10, Width 4.0, Length 3.5, auto tension and Gutermann Cotton Quilting thread.
Just need to add the label and it's ready for gifting.

Ann, it turned out great! Those fabrics are adorable, I especially like the owls and the fabric with leaves on it. The quilting really looks wonderful, too. You made a really cute quilt! Someone is going to love it to pieces!
ReplyDeleteDelighted that you think so Marsha. It is such a simple design but I think it highlights the fabrics really well. Thanks!
DeleteOh. My. Gosh. I can not begin to tell you how much I love this!!! I would hang that on my wall and smile at it every time I walked by.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! It is a cheery quilt. I think it will make Baby Austin smile too.
DeleteSo cute! Good job on that quilting! You're much braver than I, it's all I can do to stitch in the ditch with an occasional straight line down the middle!
ReplyDeleteWell, Gail if you can stitch a straight line then you can do this. Once I got the stitch length and width right it was straight stitching all the way.
DeleteLove your quilting! I don't think I could ever stitch that much as straight as you did, but I really like it. The owls are really cute too. ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteDon't look too closely Love - not all straight and not all even width but it certainly made for an interesting quilt.
DeleteWell it was worth hanging out to see your lovely quilt all finished!! It is lovely. The fabrics and design are cool and those owls are super cute. AND....what a lovely job you have done on the quilting. Super quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! I'm very happy with how it looks given that it's such a simple design really.
DeleteThe fabrics you chose to go with the owls is perfect! I love the quilting too. I have a different Janome and it doesn't have that stitch. Too bad. Great idea to use it for the quilting! I like it that you at least post something on your blog instead of not posting anything for a really long time. We don't mind if you "milk" it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth. Your Janome might have a similar stitch - it's a dashed zig-zag. I just played around with the width/length. It is good to be posting more regularly. Last year was a tough one for lots of reasons.
DeleteIt turned out so cute! What else could it be with those owls? The pieced back is perfect, even better than the fabric you didn't have enough of :) The quilting you chose works on the back as well. Ta da! Reversible!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne! I ended up using small tabs rather than a full hanging sleeve so that it can be reversible. I'm very happy with the result.
ReplyDeletetotally worth the wait!!! I love the fabrics. I love the quilting. I have some baby quilt tops that need to be finished...I may have to borrow you great idea to quilt one of them.
ReplyDeleteI looooOOOOve your new quilt - i adore the owl fabric, and the quilting is gorgeous :) U did IT ! Hugs Lena
