I have three quilts to make this year with anything else a bonus. Each quilt will be made using a pattern published in the American quilt magazine Better Homes & Garden's American Patchwork & Quilting. I started purchasing this magazine in April 2007 and haven't, as yet, made any of the projects. Don't get me wrong I love so many of the projects but I plan most of my quilts up to two years in advance because I have a limited budget.

The first quilt I am making this year is Paisley Parade designed by Laurie Simpson which featured in Quilt Sampler Fall/Winter 2008. I also decided to use quite a few of the original fabrics (not something I normally do). Here's how the quilt was photographed for the magazine.

Progress has been slow but we have a long weekend here in Australia for Australia Day so I might just spend some of it sewing.

  2. I love this quilt Ann, I have the magazine as well as the fabrics. I have almost finished making another quilt with the fabrics but I may just have enough to have a go at this one.

  3. You are definitely on your way, Ann.

I like your ability to plan in advance. I'm on a bit of a slow down at the moment, might give me time to think about a few projects, and start planning for them.

I look forward to watching your progress!

  4. If it's a warm day like it is here then it'll be perfect for staying indoors and sewing (I'm contemplating knitting or crochet!).

Happy Australia Day!! Guess what, I'm even making a pav! We're going to a BBQ at a friends place tonight and I said I'd make a desert - the ONLY desert to make on Australia Day. :D

  7. This is a lovely pattern, and the fabrics are gorgeous. I can see why you went with the original fabrics! Did you manage to make any more progress over the long weekend? I can't wait to pop back and see some updates. I also admire your ability to plan long term!

  12. I love the All People Quilt magazine. I think it's my favorite. I recently finished a quilt that was featured in the June 2008 issue of APQ called "Sweet Retreat" that I just posted on my blog. Good luck with yours. It's going to look beautiful when it's done. Happy Australia Day!
